[A day in I'llony]

A day in the life of a florist

Going to work - Preparing for opening

9:00 Arrive at Ashiya store

He lives alone in an apartment near the Ashiya main store.
I walk to work.

The streets near the Ashiya store are very beautiful, and on nice days I take a walk on my way to work, taking a slightly longer route.

After commuting, each person can pour themselves a drink of their choice, take a break, and review the work flow for the day.

11:00 Opening

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, when we purchase flowers, the flowers arrive at the store early in the morning, and we start picking them as soon as we arrive at work.
Depending on the reservation situation, we may go to the market in the morning.

break

12:00-13:00 Lunch break

Unless there is irregular work, all staff members take a lunch break together from the regular time of 12:00.

There are convenience stores and Uchide Shopping Arcade nearby, so people can gather around the tables and choose their own style, whether they prefer bento or convenience stores.

Many customers at the Ashiya store bring their own lunch boxes, so the microwave oven is running at full capacity 10 minutes before the break.

During breaks, we generally spend the time chatting about trivial things. Some people spend their time relaxing in a nearby park, and everyone is free to spend their time however they like.

afternoon

13:00-16:00 Gift making and shipping

In the afternoon, the florist prepares the flowers to be shipped that day.
Irony is a reservation-only service, so we confirm reservations up until the deadline and then create and ship the product.

In addition, the florist is also responsible for shipping flowers for online classes. We carefully pack the flowers so that they arrive in the best condition.

The shipping process involves various steps and confirmations, and several staff members work together to double-check to ensure there are no mistakes.

The driver showed up in the evening.
I believe that one of the important parts of my job is to build a relationship of trust with the drivers so that they can transport the goods carefully and without any problems.

Closing time ~ Leaving work

16:00-18:00 Cleaning the store and desk work

Once the shipments are complete, we clean up the store, then switch our minds to the next day and prepare anything we need for that day.

After completing the preparations for the next day, everyone starts working on the remaining desk work, such as creating materials, coming up with designs, placing orders, and replying to emails, and their work for the day comes to an end.

18:00 Closing time

We work on a rotating duty system, writing daily reports and then leaving work.
Once work hours are over, you are free to use your time however you like.
Some days you go home at the regular time, and other days florists practice according to an in-house training program to improve their individual flower skills.

A day in the life of a concierge

Arriving at work - morning

9:00 Arrive at Minami-Aoyama store

I live in the suburbs and commute by train, and the nearest station to the Minami-Aoyama store is Omotesando Station.
Although it's a little far from the station, walking around Aoyama is one of my daily morning pleasures.

It's an exciting place that always feels like a place I've photographed somewhere, but many of the residents of Minami-Aoyama are familiar faces, so I walked down Antique Street saying hello to the familiar faces as I arrived at the shop.

Irony's three stores are constantly connected via Zoom, and the Minami-Aoyama store is the starting point. When I come to work every morning, I start my day by connecting with staff from each store via Zoom.

11:00 Opening

As a concierge, I head to my usual PC and first check my emails and orders.
The Minami Aoyama store has a staff of 2-3 people, with me as the concierge and one or two florists working in shifts, and we assign work at the beginning of each day.

break

12:00-13:00 Lunch break

Like the Ashiya store, everyone at the Minami-Aoyama store eats lunch together.
The nearest convenience store is on Kotto-dori Street, and I use it there except on days when I bring my own lunch.

Because of the flowers inside the store, it was air-conditioned and chilly, so after lunch we went outside to take a walk around Aoyama.

The display windows of the various boutiques are fun to look at, and seeing the displays that change with the seasons is very educational for me as a concierge.

afternoon

13:00-16:00 Shipping, customer service, and orders

Once the florists begin preparing the flowers, I, as the concierge, am in charge of the shipping slips and message cards.
Double checks are made during packaging to prevent mistakes.

A concierge must primarily be a specialist in answering phone calls and emails and providing customer service to customers.
To do this, it is important to have a good understanding of irony.

Because of its location in Aoyama, this restaurant is often visited by people in the entertainment industry, famous chefs, and designers.
Every time a VIP customer visits our store, we feel the power of the Minami-Aoyama area.

Closing time ~ Leaving work

16:00-18:00 Desk work

Once shipping is complete, I return to my usual position in front of my PC to take orders, answer phone calls, and reply to emails.

At Irony, we continue to communicate with our customers even after sending the flowers. A gift is only completed when the recipient is pleased with the flowers, not just the sender.

In the evening, I use my free time to work on the tasks I am responsible for other than my basic duties.
My position is a new one, that of concierge, so I am currently in charge of creating concierge manuals and working to improve work efficiency.

18:00 Closing time

My concierge work ends on time, so I leave work at 6pm unless I have some other important work to do.
After work, I now use my time to study languages so that I can use them in my work.
